Nairobi, Samburu and Nakuru Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), you will be warmly met by our representative for a meet and greet and transferred to your city hotel for check-in. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the hotel or explore nearby attractions and restaurants in Westlands. This first evening gives you time to rest and prepare for the exciting safari ahead.

Day 2

Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, you’ll depart by 4x4 safari Land Cruiser heading north across the equator to the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most beautiful and unique wildlife areas. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Samburu is home to several rare and endemic species collectively known as the “Samburu Special Five”: the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. You may also spot elephants, lions, and leopards along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which sustains life in this semi-arid region.

Day 3

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

Spend a full day exploring the Samburu ecosystem with both morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve’s contrasting landscapes dry scrubland, rocky outcrops, and riverine forest create dramatic scenery and excellent photo opportunities. Between drives, relax at your lodge and enjoy the serene atmosphere by the river, where elephants often gather to drink. Samburu is also rich in culture, and an optional visit to a Samburu village can be arranged to experience their traditional lifestyle and colorful attire.

Day 4

Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south through Kenya’s central highlands, passing tea and coffee plantations along the way. You’ll arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive around the lake, famous for its large flocks of flamingos and pelicans, as well as rhinos, lions, and Rothschild’s giraffes. The park is a haven for bird lovers and a sanctuary for both black and white rhinos

Day 5

Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart Nakuru and drive across the Rift Valley to the spectacular Maasai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the Mara, where vast open plains are alive with abundant wildlife. The Mara is home to the Big Five lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos along with countless antelopes, giraffes, and cheetahs.

Day 6

Full Day in Maasai Mara

Enjoy a full day of game drives in the Maasai Mara, exploring its rolling grasslands and winding rivers teeming with wildlife. Morning drives offer beautiful golden light and high activity, while afternoons are perfect for spotting predators resting in the shade. You may also choose an optional hot air balloon safari (extra cost) a magical experience that ends with a champagne breakfast in the bush. Later, visit a local Maasai village (optional) to learn about their culture and traditions.

Day 7

Nairobi

After an early breakfast, You’ll journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon. Upon arrival, you’ll be dropped off at your Nairobi hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight marking the end of a remarkable 7-day Northern Kenya Explorer Safari filled with diverse landscapes, unique wildlife, and unforgettable memories.
